MERCERISING AGENTS
Mr. John Mercer, a well known chemist of his time, found and used this process. That’s why this process is known as mercerizing. This process is used to increase strength and improve the glow of fabric. In this process fabric is treated with specific alkali with tension. This leads to cotton fiber to swollen and increase strength. After this process, the fibers change to cylindrical shape resulting more evenness reflected light from the goods.
